About Us

Picture
Mishpucha offers culturally authentic, immersive experiences for Russian-speaking Jewish families that foster community building, identity exploration, and Jewish learning.

Our vision is a vibrant and empowered Russian-speaking Jewish community that embraces our unique heritage and enriches global Jewish community life.

History

Picture
Inspired by Russian camping music festivals, outdoor Israeli seminars, and a lifetime of family camping trips, we conceived of Mishpucha Camping as a way to bring together like-minded families, explore what connects us today, and what may connect us (and our children) in the future. Through the support of the COJECO BluePrint Fellowship, we created the first Mishpucha Camping weekend in 2010, inviting other Russian-speaking Jewish families to join us in our love of the outdoors, family games, experiential workshops, and singing by campfires.
With each year, Mishpucha Camping grew in popularity, size, and depth of programming.  Since 2010, we've grown from an annual tent-camping weekend retreat in NY to a grassroots nonprofit organization that connects thousands of secular Russian Jews with Jewish heritage, learning, and community life. In addition to our annual New York Mishpucha Camping retreat, we now offer family programs in New Jersey and the greater Boston area and currently are working on expanding our offerings in more regions to provide greater continuity and depth of engagement.
